Since time immemorial, music has found the expression in different spheres of society in all over the world. Whether we realize it or not, it does affect the way we view the life in general. Our perception of different cultures is also based on a kind of music, which influences the particular culture and vice versa. Music forms the basic for different campaigns that are meant to generate the awareness or formulating the opinion owing to its effect in mobilization and unifying of people worldwide. Also it is used for religious chanting and hymns in almost every culture of the world.
Mentionable a lot of research has been done since in the last decades regarding the application of music over the medical field for the treatment of mental, behavioral health issues. Also music is the so efficient way for personality development and learning process development. Now the era however influencing with the technology, so there having several mode of communication in ordered with information and technology and the globalization has multiplied with its manifold. Academic conferences, institutions and concerts particularly extending by through glorious heritage of Indian culture on a wide scale. Teaching of Indian classical in other country has exposed them to our culture and turn reflects itself as better diplomatic relations with those countries. However, all the good work done on this front is lost when due importance is not given to music as a serious subject at school and college level in our country. Out of a total of about 72 colleges of university of Delhi, only 10 colleges offer music in graduate level. Similarly in school level, just few schools offering the music as a subject. So this system need to be change for getting positive effect over the society.
As per the present scenario of social opposition & negativity like violence, uncertainty and unemployment are demanding greater propagation of the music stream known for benefit on the concerned field of mental health and general well-being. Social biases should not be the basis for formulating of government policies when deciding when deciding which subject is to be studied or not. The same applies to take decision of holding examination during the present crisis. The future will for the students being on destroyed form by randomly whether to hold examination of only English and Hindi. Who has the right to decides if music will not be the major subject of tomorrow? Having said that, being a fine art, music develops a creative and wider perspective toward life. Thus it has sublime effect not visible immediately instead of utilitarian benefits. For instance, when the national anthem of a country is played during the award of medal for a sporting event, can we not sense the sublime effect on the sportsman as well as the countrymen watching the ceremony who are filled with pride and patriotic sentiment. No wonder ever country has it’s national anthem.
Along with the national language of any region, the people of that region express themselves through their music, be it folk, classical or any other genre. Music has never been so dynamic as today. We have so many different forms of music these days which are constantly evolving. The need of the hour is to bring focus to its proper distribution and spread while preventing misuse by various media.
